Academic programs

Our programs in finance offer in-depth courses that focus on investments, corporate finance and financial planning topics with an emphasis on developing and applying financial modeling skills. These abilities and knowledge in the finance realm can be applied to a variety of business functions, preparing students for positions such as analysts, financial planners, bankers, loan officers and more.

Interested in pursuing a career in corporate finance, investments, or financial planning? You can major in business administration and choose one of the following finance tracks or concentration:

Finance Concentration
This concentration prepares students for careers in the corporate finance field, ranging from accounts manager to managerial finance. Common positions in the banking, insurance and real estate industries include business analyst, credit analyst, lender, and marketing representative.

Investments Track
Designed with an investments focus, this track prepares students to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential, recognized world-wide for excellence in the profession. The degree provides students with the necessary skills to manage assets placed in capital markets, including security analysis, investment strategies, and portfolio management. Students in this track find positions in the wealth management field with careers such as research analysts and client relationship management.

Financial Planning Track
Unique in the Baltimore area, this program is designed to answer industry needs and to meet the growing demands of hiring professionals. This degree equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the financial planning profession and pursue the Chartered Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Students pursue careers in the financial planning field as personal financial planner, investments advisor and wealth management specialists.

Finance Minor

Available to students in all majors except business administration with a concentration in finance, the minor in finance can supply students with a basic understanding of how to apply financial tools to investments, as well as make personal financial decisions.
