Student Consultants

Student consultants in CBE's Office of Student Academic and Career Services advise other students on academic matters such as curriculum requirements, class selections, graduation checks, and more. They offer a student's point of view, making the advice relatable and understandable.

Student consultants also participate in outreach programs at events such as transfer orientation, open house and the Academy of Finance annual conference. They represent the college at various functions and serve as a liaison between administrative personnel, faculty and students on advising concerns.

Why Become a Student Consultant?

As a student consultant, you will gain skills that will enhance and strengthen your résumé and provide you with valuable experience in a business setting. Along with gaining experience in advising, you will also refine your presentation skills.

Student consultants work on team projects and write different types of business documents. By working in teams, you will improve your organizational and teamwork skills, and gain in-depth experience in project management.

By sharing your experiences with other students, you will empower them with the knowledge needed to succeed at Towson University. You may find the most rewarding aspect of being a student consultant is helping others and making a difference in the academic careers of your fellow students.

What are the Hours of Work?

Student consultants commit to 10 hours per week during the academic term for two terms. The first term is unpaid and during the second term, students receive a stipend toward their tuition. The hours of work are determined with consideration for your class schedule.
